IT for Human, sometimes called IT for Social, is the use of digital technology to reduce the social impact of other activities or to meet a social need.

Examples include telemedicine in underserved areas, adaptive learning tools, assistive devices supporting independence, and solidarity platforms.

It is the social counterpart of IT for Green, and the same requirement applies: the solution must be judged on its actual benefit, not on its intent.

Point of caution

A service designed for inclusion can produce exclusion if it assumes equipment, connectivity or digital confidence that its audience lacks. The digitisation of public services illustrates this: it improves access for the majority and removes it for a minority, often the most vulnerable.
